Flagship hotel for the Whitbread Marriott brand in the UK, located on the Bath Road in the heart of the Heathrow hotels district.
390 bedrooms with a total area of 22,000m²
The building is fully cooled and sprinklered is NFPA 14 standards to suit the requirements of the Marriott Brand.
Major conference facility with 2,000 sq.m of comfort cooled conference rooms and suites.
Leisure pool and fitness centre at ground floor.
The atrium acts as an impressive entry point and provides common access to the restaurants, bars, conference facilities and leisure club. Solar shading of the south facing glazed wall is provided to limit the summer heat gains.
The location of the hotel required careful acoustic treatment of the glazed atrium and bedrooms to ensure that the guests are not disturbed by the aircraft noise from the adjacent runway.
Built at 70% of the market rate for a hotel of this type on a brownfield site. This was achieved by careful value engineering of the building for first principles up with the Contractor alongside the design team from day one.
Most of the plant is located on the roof of the building within a lightweight metal clad plantroom. This includes chillers, boilers, air handling plant and the main electrical transformers.
Air plant for the conference levels is located adjacent to the conference rooms at the second floor level. Sprinkler tanks are also located at this level to allow make up form the mains in the highway without boosting.
