BREEAM

BREEAM stands for the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method.

BREEAM is a method for assessing the environmental quality of buildings. It considers design issues that affect the global environment, local environment and the health and well being of building occupants.

BREEAM was co-developed by ECD (now part of Faber Maunsell's Sustainable Development Group) and the Building Research Establishment (BRE), with the first version for offices being released in 1990. Since then, over 500 buildings have been assessed and versions of BREEAM have followed for:

  • New offices (updated on an annual basis)
  • New superstores
  • New homes
  • New industrial units
  • Existing offices

Faber Maunsell's Sustainable Development Group take pride in the high level of targeted guidance provided to our BREEAM clients, which helps to ensure that every building achieves the best target possible, in a cost effective manner.
