Transportation Services Design

The Transportation Services Design Group has wide-ranging expertise in the design and management of tunnel ventilation and transportation services design for mass transit systems, underground railways and road tunnels.

The team brings together experienced designers and engineers in the fields of tunnel ventilationmodelling, analysis and design, CFD simulations, fire safety engineering and electrical and mechanical services design.

Our activities range from feasibility and option studies to detailed design, from equipment inspection and field measuring to on-site construction supervision and testing and commissioning.

We have worked on projects such as the Docklands Light Railway, theM25 SPHERE Tunnels, the Jubilee Line Extension and Cross Rail II in the UK, the Copenhagen Metro in Denmark, the MRTA Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line South in Thailand, and the Blackhawk Tunnel and DallasAreaRapid Transit in theUSA. We are equipped with themost up-to-date and advanced software tools for simulating underground systems and the surroundingmicro-climate. Within the team we have engineers experienced and knowledgeable in the use of industry standard tools such as Subway Environment Simulation (SES) and CFXComputational Fluid Dynamics modelling, and in-house software such as VENT for themodelling and design of road tunnels.
