Project detail

The Commission for Integrated Transport (CfIT) was established to advise and monitor government on its delivery of integrated transport, as set out in the Integrated Transport White Paper, which was published in July 1998. Faber Maunsell is the leader of a consortium of companies and experts commissioned through a framework contract to assist CfIT in fulfilling this role.

The primary function of the contract has been to monitor the degree to which the Highways Agency, Strategic Rail Authority, Local Authorities and bus and rail operators have been progressing towards the key performance indicators that were set for them by Government in the 10 Year Plan for Transport.

In addition, the team has been commissioned to undertake fundamental research and analysis on a range of topics, particularly the possibility of introducing a national road user charging system as a means of reducing congestion.

For CfIT we will be reporting on:

  • Initial Assessment Report on the 10-Year Plan for Transport
  • Second Assessment Report on the 10-Year Plan for Transport
  • Paper on Paying for Road Use
  • Paper on Regional Governance
  • Response to the Planning Green Paper
  • Series of Quarterly Monitoring Reports
  • Report on the Multi-Modal Studies
  • Report on Wider Safety Implications of Rail Safety Systems
  • Report on the Transport and Works Act process
  • Report on Retail and Leisure Parking
  • Report on Congestion Monitoring
  • Simulation of Bus Subsidy reforms
