Faber Maunsell has the skills and experience to undertake the analysis, design and detailing of all types of bridges and civil engineering structures, including intricate or demanding structural commissions such as moving structures, cable-supported structures and highly sophisticated scientific instruments like large telescopes.

With an international reputation, Faber Maunsell has played key roles in some of the world's largest bridge projects. Over the past 40 years we have been at the forefront of bridge design technology in both concrete and steel, and more recently in the use of advanced composites. Innovation, cost-efficiency, constructability and maintainability are essential key features of our design ethos, and we have a proven track record and extensive experience of working holistically with some of the world's principal contractors.

Structures

The broad range of structural expertise built up on bridges over many years is equally applicable to a wide range of civil engineering structures. Faber Maunsell staff have the capability and the understanding and appreciation of structural mechanics and soil-structure interaction to undertake the analysis and design of many different types of civil engineering structure in a range of materials.

Our experience includes the design and detailing of intricate and demanding structures like sculptures, highly sophisticated scientific instruments such as telescopes, station canopy roofs and cable supported structures as well as heavy civil engineering structures such as underground stations. These projects often call for sophisticated structural analysis in order to assess accurately the forces involved. On many occasions Faber Maunsell has had to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for safely carrying these forces and enabling the structure to be safely constructed.
