Water Management
Faber Maunsell has a specialist team providing independent environmental advice for all aspects of the water management cycle, from resource management and development, to municipal and industrial wastewater, sewage sludge strategy and aquatic monitoring and modelling.

With over 20 years of experience in managing and investigating environmental issues in water resource usage and protection, Faber Maunsell provides clients with a thorough knowledge of all relevant scientific and regulatory issues which impact on water resources projects. Our capability covers all required areas of expertise from coastal/marine systems to estuarine, freshwater and groundwater systems.
We are able to provide environmental advice throughout the water cycle from new resource planning and development, through network delivery and distribution systems to wastewater treatment. Our expertise includes ecological and water quality studies (including toxicology), monitoring, analysis and assessment. We also advise on compliance issues such as the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, the Bathing Waters Directive and all European water management legislation.
Our team has undertaken projects ranging from River protection, basin management, reservoir and dam development and the analysis of environmental risks. We are also strong in providing Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) studies and flood risk assessments as well as providing designs for sustainable reedbed water treatment projects.
Our work is supported by a detailed river modelling capability, including the ISIS flow model for river and floodplain studies and water quality in any network of watercourses. We have provided advice for water utility firms throughout the UK, central and regional government and the private sector often working with all interested stakeholders to achieve effective project resolution.
