Contaminated Land

Faber Maunsell provides expertise in investigation, risk assessment and remediation for contaminated land, groundwater and brownfield development from initial site and hazard assessment through to land residual risk management, environmental liability assessment and redevelopment.

Our specialist team has the resources, experience and expertise including SiLC accredited staff to assist all owners and developers in evaluating the risks associated with contaminated land and to manage any remedial actions required. We have significant experience in liasing with the Environment Agency and local authorities to facilitate development proposals.

From initial desk studies through ground investigations and analysis, we provide appropriate risk assessments using methods such as CLEA and R&D 20, recommend and design remedial measures and supervise site clean-up operations through to handover. Our scientists, chemists and engineers work closely together designing cost effective solutions to maximise land values and investment returns.

We can apply a wide range of suitable models and investigation techniques to assess plausible pollutant linkages to all relevant reports. Our experts have chaired CIRIA Steering Groups, drafted national technical guidance on these issues and are highly experienced in advising on environmental due diligence and pre-acquisition / pre -sale audits for investment decisions.

We also provide the leading CLARE (Contaminated Land Risk Evaluator) software which is widely used, particularly by local authorities, to prioritise problem sites and assess potential risks and can readily be linked to any GIS system.
